It wouldn't even be an issue if you had the support of your wife and family. The drones could come and go and I wouldn't matter to you. You would be at peace un affected by their stairs or shunning. But the problem is not that you have to see them but that your wife is still on their side. Do you feel like she'll ever be able to see the WTBS's lies? Are you making progress with her?

Why can't you just move on?
by atypical inthat's what my wife said to me the night before last.
i was making an observation about the way my family and other jws in my life are constantly trying to get me to go to a meeting or read an awake, but they never want to sit down and address the questions i have raised to them.
she then asked me why i can't just move on.

I made the point very bluntly that I cannot move on because she is involved so heavily in the religion, which brings it into our lives on a daily basis.
This is what I say exactly. My wife (not a JW) will occasionally ask me why I cant just let it go and move on. My reply is that as long as the WTBS maintains control of any of my family (my mother's still a JDub) then they are affecting me in a direct manner. This is unacceptable!
cannot even work in my front yard without seeing someone from my old hall
Atypical......dude.....you've got it in a bad way, don't you? I would go crazy if I had to look at former "brother" and "sisters" on a daily basis. I'd be on the housing market in a heart beat.
Hang in there man. Keep up the good fight. I'll be thinking about you and your family hoping that things pull together for you.

I also wanted to get an astronomy/physics/nature of the universe type book while I was at the library but the fruits of my loin started to get a bit rambunctious and my 2 year old son even had a librarian lecture him about not running in the library (mind you he was in the fenced in childrens section). Should'nt she have been praising him for even being in a library in stead of sitting in front of a TV?

Well I went to the library and borrowed three books this weekend. They are as follows:
1) The Kingdom of the Cults by Walter Martin. A fairly interesting read but written from the Christian perspective with intent to convert all cult members accordingly.
2) Churches that Abuse by Ronald M. Enroth (haven't even opened it yet.
3) End-Time Visions: The Road to Armageddon? by Richard Abanes (haven't even opened it yet.

Guys and flowers, whadda ya think??
by Super_Becka inalright, i'm looking for some opinions from the male portion of our jwd audience.. i'm in a long-distance relationship, like i've said here a million times before, so doing special things for my guy is kinda hard.
not only is it long-distance, it's international, too.
we're 3500 miles apart and i'm a starving student, so i can't just swing by for a visit to do something special for him on the fly.. last semester, i sent him a bunch of flowers in his favourite colour, a special "i miss you" bouquet from a local florist that i found online.

THE GOVERMENT AND SHUNNING.....
by Mary inafter reading the tragedy of puternut, i was thinking that perhaps it's time that the government took another look at what can happen when they allow religions like the jws, to cut off family members without a second thought.
surely someone's rights to have normal religions with their family should come before freedom of religion.
isn't it ironic that the gb fought so hard in court to obtain freedom of religion, yet their own members commit suicide when they try to express this very right.

Darth Yhwh said: A family's religious freedom is just that. If they choose to shun their own and create divisions amongst themselves, than so be it. You cannot leglislate morility or family values. Once you begin to try you overstep the boundaries of a democratic society.
Yes but that's just it: these people generally do not make this choice of their own free will. It's forced upon them by the WTS. If they go against it, they risk being cut off themselves. So this is not a matter of an individual "choosing" to shun their family.I'm going to have to disagree with you yet agian Mary. Your right that the WTBS makes rules that the rank n file must obey or be thrown out. It's still a personal choice. Do I raise my family as JDubs knowing that some day if they turn their back on Jehovah that I may have to shun them? If I feel that JW's are indeed the true religion then that's a chance that many JDub's have to and do take. If their children grow up and disassociate themselves then the parent has to make a choice; continue along the path of the JDub and shun their child or suffer the consequences of disobeying the WTBS and continue to have a relationship with their children. The WT is not physically twisting any one's arm. True, emotionally the WTBS is manipulating the rank n file to do what is in its own best interest, but the ultimate choice is still an individual one. If the government can step in and stop the WTBS from making these rules, then rest assured, that it will only be a matter of time before they can tell you personally who you can and cannot associate with.
